Friday Faves #12

HAPPY FRIDAY FRIENDS! This Friday Faves post is LATE, because Shawn tried to kill me this morning by taking me on a 7 mile hike at Deer Creek Canyon this morning at 6:30. I'm wiped the heck out. Also, today I learned to eat more than half a perfect bar before hiking that far.

My thinking cap was not on this morning. I didn't forget to hydrate though! That will take us into Friday Faves number 1:

Hydration packs. I am the WORST at drinking water while I hike. Especially with the climate being extremely dry and hot as hell in the middle of summer here, coupled with being at a much higher altitude than I'm used to, it is more important than ever to keep that water flowing. Shawn and I both purchased hydration packs to carry with us, so we remember to keep drinking while we're out in the heat. This was a lifesaver this morning. I got this one at Walmart for $30, or here's a similar one on Amazon.

Hiking. On the subject....hiking is just the best right now. We've been going in the evenings when Shawn gets off work, or really early in the morning to avoid the heat. I will say though, it is crazy how different it feels under the shade of trees here. I literally felt like I was walking through an air conditioned room during parts of our hike this morning. So cool. Since we are here for a limited time, we want to see and do as many things as we possibly can in this area.

Colorado wild flowers. I've been told to keep my eyes peeled for all the beautiful flowers around here, so I've been taking the time to enjoy them on our hikes!

This Mediterranean bowl from Modern Market Eatery in Denver. Holy crap. This thing was spectacular. I was honestly just searching for a salad from Uber Eats for lunch on Tuesday, and I stumbled across this restaurant down the road from our hotel. I took a chance, and it paid off. I hope to recreate a bowl like this on my own, now that I have had a chance to get to a grocery store and have gotten back into the swing of things with cooking here. Look for a recipe soon!

Current patio views. Honestly the views everywhere I have been in Colorado so far are amazing, but I can't get over how beautiful it is even when I step outside of the hotel.

This drawing of Tucker and I. Last Thursday, my 5:30am class at CrossFit Bound threw me a little send-off party after their workout. They gifted me a photo book, along with this gorgeous sketch of Tucker and I, done by one of the most amazing members there, Supreeya. It takes a lot to bring on the tears for me, but we unleashed the flood gates on that one. This gift means the absolute world to me.

Peach Bellinis. This was my favorite drink that I had in Nashville, and I really hope to find one here. If not, I'll settle for a mimosa at brunch tomorrow.

Workouts to do this weekend:

If you missed either of these from my last blog post, hop on them for this weekend!

Recipes to make:

This chicken thigh recipe made a comeback this week for Shawn and I, and it was a hit as always. It's super easy, and so delicious.

This Garlic Butter Flank Steak. Going to make this REAL soon.

Our weekend is jam packed! Tonight, we are headed over to the RiNo area in Denver for drinks and dinner with some old friends. Funny how small this world can feel sometimes! Tomorrow morning, we are headed up to Colorado Springs to hike the Manitou Incline, grab brunch, and then drive up to Pike's Peak. Then, tomorrow night, we are meeting some friends at a dueling piano bar. Sunday is FINALLY a full recovery day, and all we have planned so far is to see The Lion King, which I am SO stoked for.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. Don't forget to let me know all about your Friday Faves in the comments section! And I'm still looking for all your Denver area recommendations, so shout those out as well! See y'all back here on Monday!!
